Recent Home Office developments confirm that a digital immigration system, known as eVisa is replacing the:

• Biometric Residence Permits (BRP)
• Biometric Residence Cards (BRC)
• Passport endorsements
• Entry clearance visa vignette

An eVisa will show record of your immigration status and conditions of leave to enter or remain in the UK. To prove your status digitally, you will need to create a UKVI account. You will be able to generate a share code for employers or landlords to confirm your status in the UK.

You must ensure that your passport details are up to date as it is linked to your UKVI account and current status. If you have updated your passport details and are awaiting confirmation, then you must carry your old passport with you to avoid difficulty entering the UK should you be overseas.

If you are currently holding a BRP or BRC, then further updates will be provided in 2024 as to when to register for a UKVI account.
