In response to the Russia invasion of Ukraine, the Home Office have launched a webpage on the scheme of ‘Home for Ukraine’. This scheme will allow individuals, charities, community groups and businesses in the UK as sponsors to bring Ukrainians to safety, even they do not have any family members in the UK.
How it works
Sponsors who are willing to volunteer accommodation, which can be a residential spare room, or separate self-contained accommodation fit for people to live in, for Ukrainians for at least 6 months can register on the official webpage. Sponsors are not required to offer meals, cover the costs of food or living expenses unless they wish to do so.
There is no limit for the number of arrivals, as long as there are enough sponsors and accommodation provided. Ukrainians arriving under this scheme will be able to:
- Live and work in the UK for up to 3 years
- Access healthcare, benefits, employment support, education and English language tuition
Registration for sponsors is opened today, please access from the following link:

- You were resident in Ukraine prior to 1 January 2022
Longer Decision Time Required for UK Visas
Decision time of other visas
Due to humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, UKVI is prioritizing Ukraine Family Scheme applications, hence, applications for study, work and family visas may take longer to process. Standard visitor visas are taking 6 weeks to process on average.
Furthermore, ‘priority’ and ‘super priority’ visa services have suspended for new study, work and family visa applications temporarily .
